It is all in the meat…

You did it! You have set up a Facebook page and opened a Twitter account! You are doing better than 35% of the businesses out there. Having a Social Media presence means you plan on being in business in five years. Good for you! Now what? How often do you update? What do you say? How often do you ask for business or make a sales pitch?

These are all very good questions. You need to be out there every day and at least once a day! Keep a daily reminder of why the consumer liked your page to begin with. Keep the content informative, educational, and FUN. Ask questions and get involved with your Fans/Followers. If they respond to your post, respond back. “Yes, you are right,” or “We agree.” Build engagement!

With Twitter, it is a different audience and a different style of conversation. You only have only 140 characters in Twitter with which to communicate. There are “@” and “#” links. Twitter is short bursts of information and comments. If doing Social Media correctly, a business should spend 10+ hours a month just managing their Social Media presence.  However, for small business owners, and large for that matter, this seems like a huge undertaking. If this is too much for you, call us. We have ways to help! Call 336-222-0717.

This video was produced based on the #1 international best-selling book Socialnomics by Erik Qualman. It is the latest in the most watched social media series in the world. Our marketing director, Jessica Byerly attended a conference with Erik Qualman last October and is bringing that knowledge to you!

Being a part of the Text Generation

Text and Mobile Marketing is such a significant item on each marketer’s plate. How do I as a business or brand stay in the pocket of our customers. Nielsen reports that 46% of US mobile phone owners had a smart phone as of Q4 2011. That number will jump to 50% by the end of 2012 if not before.

MBAOnline.com recently published an infographic that gives us a much better idea of how important texting is in the everyday lives of human beings.

  • 60% of humans (4.2 billion) are active texters.
  • There are 5 times as many texters as there are Facebook users and there is 850 Million Facebook Users.
  • Over 6 trillion texts were sent in 2010.
  • Over 193,000 text messages are sent every second.
  • 66% of humans in developing countries have mobile phone subscriptions.
  • 48 million people own cellphones but do not have electricity.
  • It is more common to have a cellphone in many African countries than it is to have a bank account.

Just like email Marketing there are proper ways of marketing through Text Messages. Here at Growth Marketing, a division of PiP Burlington, we have a texting Program that is extremely cost-effective and can help you be apart of a text revolution.

Whether it is a text reminder for a dental appointment or service appointment. An Event reminder that there is an upcoming event, or if business is slow and you want to drive traffic to move a certain product or time frame… texting works!

The Average Text Message received results in a decision with in 4 to 6 minutes.

Print is still Alive and Well!

You often hear that print is dead. BUZZZZZ Wrong Answer. In the ever-changing worlds of electronic and print media, both have a value. Both have a purpose and both have an audience.

Both have benefits when it comes to targeting – it depends on your target audience as to how you should spend your time and dollars. The Digital World is great, it is a virtual space, virtual address, virtual touch. With Print you have physical touch and a physical address = Tangable.

A recent IBM/Ricoh joint venture conducted a survey and still found that 70% of Americans said they’d rather read print than read on-screen. Surprisingly enough that 69% of those surveyed were between the ages of 18 and 24 years of age.

Print is alive and Well – the real factor is using both

Multichannel (Marketing…..Not TV Guide)

Multichannel Marketing – What does that mean? Multichannel Marketing is using different platforms to reach your customer with the same message. In the current marketing world, there are hundreds of ways to reach your customer. A channel might be store signage, a web site, or a direct personal communication by letter, email, or Text Message. It could be a Facebook Post or Tweet, a paid search ad, Facebook Ad, or YouTube video, even a TV commercial or radio spot.

It is also different for each and every customer. Each generation takes in their media differently.

To give an example: If you are a retail shop selling clothing to 20-30 year-old women, how would you market?

Women in the 20-30 year-old range are considered to be Adult Millennials. Throughout the morning and evening, the top ways of reaching that audience is through radio and Facebook. During the middle of the day, Facebook, Information, and Entertainment are tops.

Timing is everything in Multichannel Marketing. You want to make sure if your customer is using two screens (watching TV and using a laptop) that the messages match. Stop delivering mixed messages to your consumers. Make sure that whatever offer you are promoting that it is clearly displayed on your website, in your store, on your mailers, and any other touch point you are using.
